Kavita Singh

Kavita Singh (born in Calcutta (now Kolkata) in 1964) is an associate professor at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where she teaches the history of Indian painting and museum history and politics. Her writings have appeared in Artibus Asiae, The Journal of Material Culture, Marg, The Art Newspaper, Art India , and in various books. She has conducted two curatorial projects with her students: Waste (2010), about people who deal with urban waste in Delhi (at JNU), and Where in the World (2008) for the Devi Art Foundation, which went back over ten years of globalization in contemporary Indian art. Invited by the San Diego Art Museum, she was associate curator for the show ‘Power and Desire’ (2002), a travelling exhibition of painted miniatures from the museum’s collection.
