As an artist working at the crossroads of film, painting and sculpture, Shezad Dawood in interested in the phenomena of translation, re-directing and genre mixing. His video work Towards the Possible Film (2014), shot at Sidi Ifni in Morocco, explores the anthropological imagination of indigenousness, as tested by science-fiction. His work has been shown in many institutions like the MACBA, Barcelona, 2014 ; Modern Art Oxford, 2012 ; the 53rd Venice Biennale, 2009 ; and in many cities such as Tangier, Mumbai, Hamburg, and Karachi… He curated the exhibition Black Sun: Alchemy, Diaspora and Heterotopia at the Devi Art Foundation, Gurgaon (New Delhi) and edited the book of the same title which accompanied it.
