After trying his hand simultaneously at photography and sculpture, Martin Widmer focused his activities on the photographic medium. He has a special interest in issues associated with appearance/apparition, seen from a phenomenological angle. He has taken part in many exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad, in particular ‘Commissariat pour un arbre #3’, Collège des Bernardins, Paris, 2013 ; ‘Bulbfiction’, Centre d’art contemporain d’Yverdon, 2013 ; ‘Falsfakes/Vraisfauxsemblant’, Centre pour la photographie de Genève, 2013… He is also part of the curatorial team at the Centre d’art de Neuchâtel (CAN). His work has been published in Martin Widmer. Phénoménologie de l’irrationnel (CAN-Analogues, 2009) and Modernisme Black/Book (La Saisie, 2011).
